When the Holidays Feel Heavy: Finding God’s Goodness in the Brokenness

Writer's picture: Carrie Breedlove MS, LPCCarrie Breedlove MS, LPC

If it looks or feels different this year...

If something didn't work out the way you'd hoped...

If you're feeling rushed, worried, or weary...

You aren't alone.

It's okay to be sad and heavy hearted. Those emotions are real and appropriate expressions in a broken world post Fall.

Lean into the lament.

And when you are ready, it's also okay to look for the goodness of the Lord, in the land of the living. I promise it's still there to be found among the soggy leaves, bitter grief, and burnt turkey.

Go ahead and let out deep sighs, it's a way to deep breathe.

Go ahead and cry if you need to.

Go ahead and let soft smiles creep in.

Thankfulness can come from heavy hearts, even today.
